The author was raised in New Bedford, MA, an old mill town, during the 1950s and 60s. His dad was killed in a factory accident when he was 2 years old. He was drafted in the army on December 13th when he was 19 years old and sent to Fort Lewis Washington as part of the 4th Infantry buildup before the division was sent to Vietnam.

He has spent the last twenty-two years researching the history of his unit’s time in Vietnam.

He helped form Alpha Association in the year 2000. This is a veterans organization manned by A/2/12 veterans who served in his company during his time in Vietnam.

This research was recognized by other notables and led up to him being named the Historian for the 12th Infantry Regiment Monument Project. For that initiative he was cited as a Distinctive Member of the 12th Infantry Regiment.

The US Infantry Association awarded the Order of St. Maurice Medal, Legionnaire level, to him for his contributions to the United States Infantry.

Locally, he is very active in Veteran organizations, and has several tributes awarded to him, including Franco-American Veteran of the Year for SE Massachusetts in 2017.
