Byrne N. Sherwood

Byrne N. “Buzz” Sherwood was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry in 1970 upon his graduation from LSU. During a twenty-three year career in the U.S. Army, he commanded infantry units at platoon, company and battalion level. Following retirement from the Army, he taught history for ten years at Richmond High School in Richmond, CA. Now fully retired, he divides his time between his local parish church, ministering to incarcerated youth as a volunteer chaplain at the Alameda County Juvenile Detention Center, as a member of the Contra Costa County Search and Rescue Team and as an officer in VFW Post 8063. His hobbies include hiking, writing and music. He and his wife, Diana DeGracia, reside in Lafayette, CA.
