Joseph R. Jones
Joseph R. Jones, PhD, wrote Magnolia Avenue, his first novel, over a three-year period, starting when he returned to the high school classroom as a special education teacher in a co-taught English classroom. It is here that he started writing Magnolia Avenue to model a class assignment for his students. When he returned to higher education, he continued working on the novel.
Jones is the author of six academic books and thirty journal articles. He has emerged as a national scholar in his academic field and is the recipient of several awards, including the prestigious Stonewall Service Award from CCCC/NCTE. He is also the recipient of the Georgia Council of Teachers of English 2020 Teacher of the Year Award.
