Michael D. Belis
Michael D. Belis was a rifleman in the1st Battalion 22nd Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division in theRepublic of Vietnam. He is a member of the 4th Infantry Division Association and the 22nd Infantry Regiment Society.
From 1999-2014, he was a historical advisor to 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry while the Battalion was part of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Carson, Colorado. Since 2014, he has been working in a historical advisory capacity to 2nd Battalion 22nd Infantry, 10th Mountain Division stationed at Fort Drum, New York.
He is the Historian for the 22nd InfantryRegiment Society and has written articles for the Society newsletter and for other projects by the Society. He has written articles for the 4th InfantryDivision Association publication "The Ivy Leaves" and for theAssociation's website and Facebook pages. He is the author of the book EarlWilliam “Lum” Edwards “Mr. 22nd Infantry”. He is also the webmaster of the 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry website (www.1-22infantry.org.)
In 2012, the title of DistinguishedMember of the Regiment (DMOR) was conferred upon him by the Secretary of theArmy.
He lives in the heart of Cajun Country near Carencro, Louisiana.
